2turvenhoog festival 2023 (ENGLISH)

2turvenhoog festival is the most adventurous arts festival for everyone from 0 to 6 years and adults

The annual 2turvenhoog festival shows high-quality (performing) arts for the little ones to the widest possible audience. The versatile, international program consists theatre, dance, music, performances and visual art installations.

With the most beautiful performances, 2turvenhoog offers many young children and their adult supervisors a very nice, often first, theater experience. It is precisely these shared experiences between parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters and/or other adult caregivers that are very important.

Location

In the Netherlands, 2turvenhoog festival is the place where new developments in the field of performing arts for the youngest get a chance and is a meeting point for (inter)national makers and professionals who commit themselves to the young child. Fixed elements of the festival are a professionals programme, aimed at knowledge sharing and connection, and the lab performances, in which makers can develop new offerings.

Almere has been the home base since its establishment in 1999. In the city of Almere, there is cooperation with cultural institutions in Almere as well as community centres, schools and preschools in the urban districts. Part of the festival program travels from Almere to Schuur and Philharmonie in Haarlem and, since 2021, to Caprera in Bloemendaal.

Art installations

2turvenhoog isn’t complete without its art installations that you are allowed to touch and play in. For the festival, interactive installations have been created by various visual artists and a selection of eleven third-year students from the Theatre and Music Technology department at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht. The installations can be experienced free of charge. take a look at the agenda to see where and when you can discover the art installations.
